We at Civic Projects have been privileged to listen to, learn from, and work directly with survivors of police torture for several years. Chicago Torture Justice Memorial has invited six teams of artists and architects to submit proposals for a public memorial dedicated to those affected by police violence under Commander Jon Burge. Our competition entry seeks to elevate and acknowledge over 120 identified survivors and allow room within the memorial for those not yet recognized. All of the entries will be exhibited at the Arts Incubator.
